During the recent World Ocean Day a team from sustainable outdoor retailer Bever and myself embarked on a little expedition. Mission; cleaning up one of the beaches of the island of Schiermonnikoog which is part of the World Heritage Wadden Sea.

Together with a guide from the Wadden Vereniging, a Forester and the team from the vintage sailing boat "Klipper Willem Jacob" we got educated on why the Wadden Sea is so valuable and why keeping it clean is essential.

Having the focus on small plastics, paraffin or whatever crossed our paths that did not belong on the beach, we set off for a solid few hours of cleaning.
